Apartment Above Wellspring Arms, Wednesday Morning

So, yesterday Deadpool had some funny grey spots. Which, you know, easy to write off as a coloring error. It happens all the time! Like that thing with the Hulk that he's green because the inkers were freakin' laaaaazy.

But now it had spread to more grey spots. Which probably meant something was wrong. Since he had that kooky healing factor and all.

This meant he was going to do the completely reasonable thing and perch on the end of the couch to eat cereal from the box and watch bad television as he waited for Nate to be done getting Jan all cleaned and dressed.

Seriously, how did that kid manage to get dirty while sleeping? It was a secondary mutation. Had to be.

[[For that guy who is more than basic television]]

Wade responded in the same mature fashion by throwing one of the couch pillow at Nate's head. "Your fly is down, jackass."

The pillow bounced off of Nate's head.

And then went sailing back at the couch.

Then Nate dropped to his feet. "We're going to evacuate now, Jan," he said. "You and me, like we practiced."

She looked distressed. "Wade--"

"We'll see him again soon enough." He hoisted Jan back up and righted himself.

She sniffled and flailed in Wade's general direction.

"Hey," Wade said, voice going soft for the first time in the sickeningly sweet exchange. Oh, the diabetes! "Someone's gotta keep Nate in line, kiddo."

Big teary eyes as the situation began to sank in said that Jan wasn't doing so well with the whole idea. She snottered a little.

And then she nodded, in that serious way that only children could really pull off. "I don't like it," she said. "Don't."

But she'd been pretty well-trained about this one, so at least she didn't kick Nate anywhere.

"Me neither," Wade admitted, looking down at his hands for a moment before picking the energy back up. "Okay! Time to get you two packed so I can turn this place into a swinging bachelor pad. Maybe bring in some kooky roommates for that spin off vibe!"

"I'm grabbing some weapons from downstairs," Nate said, hauling Jan a little more securely up on his shoulder.

Jan frowned at Wade from her position. She made a wet little noise as she forcibly sniffled one last time to get rid of the stupid wetness in her nose. "Wade," she said, plaintitively, "Can I have a gun now?"

"Are you using this traumatic experience to get what you want?" Awww, daddy's little girl.

"No guns yet," Nate said, rolling his eyes before he even realised he was doing it.

"Eh, give her a squirt gun." She liked those. SHUT UP, NATE.

"Gunnnnnn," Jan said, "I will shoot."

What, she wasn't going to specify.

Nate cracked a tiny smile, then opened up the door to the shop. No teary goodbyes, now.
