This Wednesday, Wade was prepared. Yes. Prepared. He bought food.

A lot of food.

It probably wasn't the best idea to buy several varieties of cake and pie for a movie night, but he had been in the mood to go into a diabetic coma.

No reason why.

Nate still had some doubts about his current choice of DVD (as suggested by Irene), mostly because of the rather omnious air (Irene's snickering) that had engulfed the (Irene's) suggestion.

Still, he pushed open the door to Wade's, dogless but not babyless, carrying a sixpack in one hand and some groceries in the other. ...He had a feeling he'd need them.

Max looked up for him, as disdainful as a weetiny fox can managed and walked away again.

Wade, on the other hand, was already halfway into a pie. Key lime! "Nate! You're just in time!"

"Are you having a bake sale?" Nate asked, taking a moment for a good deadpan. Then he set the sixpack down on the ground, along with the groceries.

"...No. That would end badly," He said slowly. "What's in the bag?"

Nate's eyes flicked up at him. "Salad," he said, easily, reaching down to take the plastic container out of the bag.

He'd mention the alka seltzer if it came up.

Wade squinted. "Why did you bring salad?"

"The nutritional value." He tossed the container at Wade. "You can put it on a pizza."

"...did you bring pizza?" Wade asked after a moment.

"I called the delivery service." He picked up the sixpack next, took a moment to check Jan was still sleeping, then found a spot on the couch. Nate sat down with a whumph, and added, "I also arranged for a tip and assured them that none of their staff would get stabbed, shot, or otherwise maimed for delivering pizza."

"You ruin half the fun of it!" Wade replied, frowning at that.

"Someone has to," Nate replied, offering him the sixpack. It helped the salad go down better. Probably.

Wade grabbed the beer, opening one right away. "So! What movie do we have today?"

"Something about airplanes," Nate said, casting a look over at the bag. ...Why did he feel like Irene had just talked him into some kind of timebomb? "How was your weekend?"

"Fine! Perfect!" Wade went digging into the bag for the movie. "Top Gun?"

"Irene said it was about fighter planes." And male bonding. "I see you came back in one piece."

"Of course I did. I always do," Wade said, focusing on the movie. "Irene picked this?"

"You do and you don't," Nate observed, idly, and made himself more comfortable by gently removing the baby from her pouch. "Is that odd...?"

"Are you sure she said to rent Top Gun?"

Why yes he was ignoring the first bit.

"So how long are you intending to sit here and repress the weekend through baked goods?"
