There were certain things that were distinctly wrong with where Poromon woke up this morning. The fact that is most certainly was not the room of a little girl was a pretty large clue that he was not where he was supposed to be.

Oh, and that random guy n bed with him. That was a hint too.

Okay, that was a new one. Even if Poromon could understand thematic bolding, it would still be new.

"I'm not kidding around!" Poromon replied with a bounce. And a flap of those useless, useless wings. "Is it a type of human?"

"A different kind of human," Nate said. He was still pretty sure this Digimon was messing with him. "If you're speaking the truth... or not... I can find out..."

And Poromon squeaked at the weird attack, bouncing up higher to attack him back. With the least effective attack ever...

Nate's hair swung about three millimeters to the side, brushing his bangs ever-so-lightly across his eyes. It accomplished nothing besides making him look slightly more dramatic for the second it took his hair to fall back into its original position.

He got up and crossed his arms. "...What was that supposed to be?"

"Moving doll!" Jan squealed behind him. "Dad!"

She had absolutely no respect for AUs.

"Are you my digi-destined?" Did you see what they did there? Did you? The 'digi' added to the word 'destined'?

"Destined for what?" Nate demanded. Generally that word never meant anything g--

A small girl tackled his leg, and for a minute he was knocked off balance by the power radiating off her. "What the--"

He was saying that an awful lot right now.

"Yeah-huh," she said, cheerfully, not because she actually knew what a digi-whotsit was, but because Poromon looked adorable and she needed to have it, now.

"Yay! Now we can escape from here and have adventures in the Digital World!" Poromon said, bouncing over and possibly hitting Nate's other leg. Because Nate was a mean man.

"Hey!" Nate protested. "That little girl-- her power-- it's so similar to mine..."

Because expositioning out loud was the kind of thing one did in this universe. "You're not taking her."

He said, while Jan was grabbing at Poromon enthusiastically.

Poromon made a small noise of protest because it still needed to breathe, Jan. AND WINGS WEREN'T MADE FOR BEING PULLED LIKE THAT. OH GOD.

"And save the world!" Poromon added, sounding more than a little strained. "We need to save the world, mutant human!"

"If I got a penny for every time someone said that to me," Nate groused. But he reached down for the kid before the evil whatever it was made off with her.

"Save the world!" she crowed, slipped out of Nate's hands, and yanked Poromon along with her.

"YAY!" A beat. "Owowowowowowow, please don't do that."

"Hey!" Nate yelled after them.

It took him a few beats to actually run their way, because talking was not a free action.

Jan? Jan was trundling happily towards the door with her new toy.

"Digi-destined girl?" he ventured as he was dragged along. "Maybe you should slow do--OWN."

"Saving the world," Jan said, solemnly. "Doesn't wait. I need a un'form..."

Deadpool was suddenly regretting making this a daddy-daughter bonding exercise. But at least the costume was nice and red. With no goddamn X's on it.

"Uniform? You mean goggles and gloves?"

"No!" she said, sounding offended as she dove into the closet. "Not a pollystar blend..."

"Um." Poromon bounced back toward the doorway, hoping to catch that mean but slightly sane human.

"You!" Nate said, sounding quite Put Out, and pointing a finger. "What are you doing with that girl? She's powerful-- I won't let anyone take her."

"I think she's putting on a uniform?" Poromon ventured nervously. "My headwings hurt."

"Stay away from her," Nate said again, seriously, and shut the door between them and Jan with a telepathic wave. "Digimon. Who sent you here anyway? And what's this destiny?"

... Yeah. Nate opened his mouth to say something, but then a little girl in a weetiny red-and-blue outfit propelled herself out of the door. "WORLD SAVING!"
