"Everything kinda ... all piled up," she said softly. "It, uh. This friend of mine died, and now he's an Unsent and I don't know how to help him. Then my boyfriend skipped town. And I got my skull cracked open by a vampire, and then yesterday some crazy lady pulled a gun on me. It just goes on and on and I just kinda wanted it to stop for a minute so I could ... breathe."
