After spending the rest of the night wandering around town after his date because he didn't want to go home and walk in on Yuki and Cotton Candy having sex on the kitchen table or something, Deadpool was tired.

So tired, in fact, he was sleeping on his desk as he waited for his new minions to show up.

Good thing he's such a light sleeper that someone coming in his office would wake him up.

Deadpool grinned like a loon. "Hey, you're the one who brought it up!"

"Out of self defense!" Setsuna insisted, with an expression that was half-pout, half-glare, as she gave Deadpool a long, cold, hard look. "Ugh." She finally turned her head in disgust, lifting her chin. "What exactly are the expectations involved in this whole mentor system, so I can meet the minimal requirements and not have to deal with you any more beyond that?"

"Awww, don't be like that!" Wade pouted through his mask. "Don't let your inability to come out of the closet get in the way of the opportunity for me to teach you valuable things! Like, shooting people! Or stabbing people! Or picking up chicks!"

"I don't need help stabbing people," Setsuna looked at him with the suggestion of proving that to him personally if she had to in her eyes. "Or...'picking up chicks.' I don't need to pick up chicks, thank you very much, because I have a lesbian lover in Japan boyfriend." Who turned into a chick...shut up, brain.

There was a pause. A slightly embarrassed shifting of her eyes.

"Maybe on the shooting part, though. I'm...m'not good with long range quite yet...."

Dammit! If it wasn't such a valuable skill...

"Ah, sniping. It takes a lot of practice to get good at." Deadpool sighed fondly, thinking back on the days in the military. Ah, emotionally scarring.

"And a sword fighter, huh?"

Setsuna nodded, hating the sudden pull she was feeling as the conversation veered toward something she knew she couldn't help loving to talk about. "That's right. Shinmei Ryuu School, Tokyo division, going on almost twelve years now. Specializing in nodachi, although I have experience with katana and have also recently started learning to use a Western style blade as well."

There was the start of a smile but Setsuna very sharply pulled it away. No. She hated Deadpool. She would not be wooed by talk of steel into thinking he might actually be an acceptable advisor.

Like there was a swordsman born who could resist talking about blades and fighting styles.

"Nodachi? Pretty big weapon for someone your size," Deadpool replied. It wasn't even in a mocking tone, just curious. "Nakamura Ryu Happogiri Battodo for me. Studied it waaaay before you were born."

Setsuna nodded slightly, reluctant to allow a common ground to surface. "Shinmei Ryuu techniques work best with nodachi; my exposure to a sword since before I could even walk has aided in my overcoming my disability of height."

"We'll have to spar sometime. I'll even go easy on you."

"Well, that would be stupid," Setsuna said, "because then you'd be dead."

"Oooo! Someone is confident!" Deadpool leaned forward and grinned in a way that could not be considered friendly. "You should be more careful when you don't know what the enemy is capable of."

He followed that with happy little nod. "And there we go. My first piece of advice as a mentor. I feel all tingly."

Setsuna really didn't want associate the word tingly with Deadpool ever.

"Perhaps you should consider your own advice as well, Deadpool."

"I've been doing this longer than you've been alive, It's a safe bet that I can handle whatever you dish out."

"I never said you couldn't handle it," Setsuna pointed out with an indignant lift of her chin. "I just ask that, as I should not underestimate you, you should not underestimate me. I've been doing thing ever since I was alive. Do not take me lightly, for this and dramatic speeches is all I really know."

Deadpool knew the freakin' X-Men, dramatic speeches weren't impressive unless they could be delivered mid jump in a fight.

"Oh, I'm not. You're just so wee and tiny. Maybe in about ten years you'll be more of a threat to me."

Don't kill the teacher, Setsuna, don't kill the teacher...

But, fists clenched tightly at her sides, Setsuna was finding it extremely difficult not to respond to such an insult. Curse the ban on weapons on school grounds.

"I did not come here to have my skills be insulted," she said, finally, darkly, through gritted teeth. "The other things, calling me adorable, making unwarrented and uncouth assessments upon my sexuality...all these things, fine, whatever, I can learn to deal with your perverted assessment. One thing I will not stand for is someone who insists on taking me so lightly, who sees me as 'maybe' 'more of a threat' 'in ten years.' You will consider me as a threat to you now, or I will do what I can do work around the system and change your mind."

"I do believe they probably have rules against student/teacher encounters of that sort," Setsuna said stiffly, lifting her chin, although the idea of taking out her anger on him was extremely appealing. Besides, chances were, if he was calling her out for being possibly overconfident, than that meant his confidence probably had some founding in truth. And she could use a good spar...

"It's just a sparring session. I'm supposed to be teaching you, right?"

"I suppose that's true. Unfortunately, though, I do know we'll have to use only practise swords. Use of live steel in a spar is frowned upon."

Wade frowned. "That just makes it harder to see how skilled someone is."

Setsuna grunted a little. "Precisely. An advisary responds in completely different ways if they know that the weapon being used is mostly harmless. Although, if you can kill a man with a sheath, you certainly can do it with a bokken."

"Well duh, but it just isn't the same." He was pouting a lot now. "Stupid bokken."

Setsuna just sort of looked at him dully for a bit before letting out a sigh. What a strange, strange man in a silly red suit.

"I'll give you a call when I'm planning on having target practice and maybe for some sparring, 'kay?"
