So. It was that time of year and there was a kid around. That meant Wade needed to teach Jan all the wonders of the saccharine sweet morals on TV this time of the year.

"Now, I was thinkin' of startin' you out with that wimp-ass It's A Wonderful Life where they never gave that guy his comeuppance for losing all their money. Because I'd choke a bitch," He said, fiddling with the DVD player as Jan sat perched on the couch with a very displeased fox in her arms. "Teach him to lose my money with a fist to the face."

Jan just giggled in agreement as someone was being silly.

He thought it best not to mention he totally would punch Jimmy Stewart in the face if he could.

"Not that The Grinch is much better, but... It's a kids classic."

"Try to remember the morality of the season," Nate commented, idly, from his vantage point. Because 'vantage point' was the only way to describe it while Wade tackled the DVD player quite like that. Like a blast zone.

"He doesn't have any money invested in any of this," Nate assured Jan, reaching over to run a hand over her hair. "We might have a problem."

"See?" Wade said to Jan, shaking his head. "See? Can't trust him."

"A Phoenix problem."

Let it never be said Nate let random babble stop him from getting to the point.

"..." Wade pushed play, staring at him for a moment. "Are we gonna hafta get a new sun? Because I will be so pissed if that's the case."

"It's early days," he noted, "But we'll have to take some precautions in case it gets out of hand..."

Which it generally did, if the Phoenix got involved.

Wade just sighed, taking a seat on the couch. "Can't we just take bets on when it happens? I got odds on it being a month."

"I'm trying to figure out the timeline," Nate replied, taking the most relevant bits of that statement. "She says she dreams of birds and fire."

"A month," Wade sang.

Nate pursed his lips. "Maybe..." he said, fixing his eyes on the movie's first few moments. "What are we watching?"

"The Grinch." Holiday classic, baby! He picked up Jan to make room for Nate on the couch with them, tossing her up into the hair to her delight.

"Again! Again!"

Oh, Wade had trained her well.

"Careful," Nate said, which was more a random interjective at this point than any real plea towards Wade. "He didn't take any of your money, I take it."

Which, of course, meant it was time for Jan to repeat the word 'shit'. A lot.

"Jan," Nate said - patience of a saint, honestly -, "No. That's a bad word."

So maybe both of them occasionally looked upon her like a puppy.

Wade just nodded approvingly. "Exactly."
